The Math on Lead Times

Why "I'll Get Around To It" Runs Out Around May

Hurricane season officially starts June 1. An installed impact window before that date is a different outcome than a quote in July. Here's the honest timeline.

WEEK 1

Free In-Home Estimate

We visit, measure every opening, and quote. Usually scheduled within 3–5 days of your form submission.

WEEKS 2–6

Manufacturer Lead Time

Your windows are built to spec. Most products ship in 2–4 weeks; premium custom orders can take 6–8. We'll tell you your exact window at quote time.

WEEKS 4–7

Permits & Inspection Prep

We pull permits with your local building department, coordinate the pre-install inspection, and schedule the install. This runs in parallel with the manufacturing stage.

WEEK 7–9

Install & Final Inspection

Our in-house crew installs, usually in 1–3 days. Final building inspection and wind mitigation certificate follow within a week. You're protected.

IT'S AUGUST 7, 2026

Hurricane season is here.

Emergency install slots are still available for South Florida homeowners. Get a free quote today and we'll prioritize your scheduling.

The Technology

What Makes a Window Hurricane-Proof

Not all "impact" windows are created equal. Here's what separates Cat 5 protection from marketing fluff.

Two Panes, Bonded Together

Hurricane-rated glass is two sheets of glass fused to a polyvinyl interlayer (PVB). When a flying projectile hits it — at 175 mph in our tests — the glass cracks but the interlayer holds it together. The opening stays sealed. Your home stays pressurized.

Frame Anchoring Matters Most

The frame's job is to transfer impact force into the structure of your home without flexing, breaking, or popping out. We install to Miami-Dade's strictest anchoring spec — buck material, fasteners, sealant, all to code. The glass is only as good as how it's mounted.

Tested In The Strictest Lab In The Country

Miami-Dade NOA means the product passed Large Missile Impact D (a 9-pound 2x4 fired at 50 ft/sec), cyclic pressure testing, and water infiltration at hurricane-force winds. If a window isn't NOA certified, it didn't pass these tests. Period.

Every window we install for South Florida homes carries full Miami-Dade NOA certification — no shortcuts, no "impact-looking" alternatives, no unrated glass packages dressed up to look the part.

Track Record

Through Every Major Storm Since 2007

SafeGuard has installed across South Florida through Wilma, Irma, Ian, Helene, and Milton. Here's what we've seen.

SEPTEMBER 2017 · CAT 4

Hurricane Irma

185 mph peak winds · $50B damages

Irma struck the Keys and crossed the state. SafeGuard installs across Miami-Dade and Broward came through with zero openings compromised. We were booked solid in the 12 weeks leading up to it — a lesson most homeowners learned the hard way that year.

SEPTEMBER 2022 · CAT 4

Hurricane Ian

150 mph winds · $112B damages

Ian devastated Southwest Florida. The brutal lesson from Ian wasn't just wind — it was flying debris from unprotected homes impacting neighbors. SafeGuard customers with full-home NOA coverage reported minor debris scuffs and intact interiors.

SEPT–OCT 2024 · BACK-TO-BACK

Hurricanes Helene + Milton

Helene Cat 4 · Milton Cat 3 landfall (Cat 5 peak)

Two major hurricanes in two weeks — Florida's most demanding storm test in a generation. SafeGuard's install base across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach came through standing. Not a single customer callback for impact failure.

OCTOBER 2025 · CAT 5

Hurricane Melissa (Jamaica)

185 mph sustained · One of strongest Atlantic storms on record

Melissa spared Florida but leveled parts of Jamaica. The lesson for South Florida homeowners: the next one's coming, and insurers everywhere are watching. Unprotected homes are becoming uninsurable in coastal zones. Now's the time to get ahead of it.
